Oh Canada! At home and around the world!

Every year for almost a decade now, my sister and I have celebrated Canada Day by sending our sponsor children a calendar featuring Canadian scenes or icons. This year I decided we would make the calendars through Heritage Makers using playing cards. The calendar goes from July 2012 until June 2013. Each pack of cards makes 4 calendar sets which can then be hole punched in the corner and attached together with a ring, a ribbon, or something else.
When sharing this project with others, a couple of people suggested that it could be used as gifts for family members – especially non-Canadian family members – or as a teacher’s gift at the end of the school year. An easy gift to modify to be used at any time of year for any reason.

Teacher appreciation kits scream THANK-YOU!!

So the latest challenge on Club HM (facebook) was to create a teacher gift. Automatically my mind went to my 2 FAVOURITE gifts every received from a student. They were so practical and fun and were just what I needed at the end of a LONG year of teaching. So, I used a two-sided invitation in Heritage Makers Studio to create 2 sets on instructions to make your own fun teacher appreciation kits. So far they’ve been VERY popular on Club HM, they’ve gotten lots of positive feedback,¬†so I thought I’d share them here too. I only wish I had kids so I could use them myself. ūüôā

Warrior Woman, Faithful Friends, and Standing Strong

Lately, on Pinterest, I’ve¬†come across some amazing quotes that reflect my life experience, provide me with life inspiration¬†and express my life aspirations. In the latest Heritage Makers challenge I was able to put some of these amazing quotes to use.

This first quote is one of my favourites. It sure gets me all reved up and ready to fight through the difficult choices and decisions. It brings out the fighter in me. It a quote I aspire to be Рmy life motto of sorts.

How do you show appreciation to the friends who’ve stuck with you through thick and thin? I have 2 best friends in particular who have stood by my side through some very difficult and dark times over the last couple of years. Here’s a card I created with these 2 friends in mind. I get to personalize each one with a special message of thanks for their enduring friendship, and then HM will direct mail it to their home.

Here’s a quote I found that reflects what’s kept me moving forward. Life has thrown some¬†pretty BIG curve balls, but it’s on my knees before God that I find the strength and courage to keep moving forward. So here’s a wrapped canvas¬†I created. I can hang it on my¬†wall¬†to remind me where my strength comes from.
